Care & Maintenance Guide

Thank You For Choosing Amet Furnishings

Your furniture has been crafted to provide years of comfort and enjoyment. Proper care and maintenance will help preserve its appearance, comfort, and longevity.

Upholstered Furniture

Cushion Dressing

To maintain the appearance and comfort of your sofa:

  • Rotate and reverse loose cushions regularly.

  • Plump and reshape fibre-filled cushions weekly.

  • Avoid sitting repeatedly in the same position.

  • Distribute seating evenly across the sofa.

Settling and softening of foam and fibre fillings are normal characteristics of upholstered furniture and should not be considered defects.

General Upholstery Care

  • Vacuum upholstery regularly using a soft brush attachment.

  • Remove dust and dirt before they become embedded in the fabric.

  • Clean spills immediately.

  • Avoid harsh chemicals and abrasive cleaners.

  • Always test cleaning products on an inconspicuous area first.

Fabric Upholstery

  • Keep furniture out of direct sunlight where possible.

  • Prolonged exposure may cause fading.

  • Avoid placing furniture close to fireplaces, heaters, or heat sources.

  • Professional cleaning is recommended for stubborn stains.

Fabric characteristics such as pilling, shading, creasing, and dye lot variations are normal and do not indicate defects.

Leather & Bonded Leather

  • Wipe regularly with a soft dry cloth.

  • Clean spills immediately.

  • Keep away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

  • Use only approved leather care products.

  • Avoid solvents, detergents, and abrasive cleaners.

Natural markings, grain variation, and softening over time are characteristics of leather and should not be considered defects.

Timber Furniture

Oak Veneer & Natural Timber

Timber is a natural material and may expand, contract, or change slightly in appearance due to humidity and environmental conditions.

To protect your furniture:

  • Use coasters, placemats, and protective pads.

  • Wipe spills immediately.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

  • Avoid excessive moisture.

  • Dust regularly using a soft cloth.

Variations in grain, colour, knots, and texture are natural characteristics and contribute to the uniqueness of each piece.

Rubio Monocoat Finishes

Furniture finished with Rubio Monocoat should be cleaned using a soft damp cloth.

Do not use:

  • Furniture polish

  • Silicone products

  • Ammonia-based cleaners

  • Bleach

  • Abrasive cleaning products

To maintain the finish, periodic re-oiling may be recommended depending on usage.

Duco Painted Furniture

Duco finishes are durable but should be treated with care.

  • Wipe with a soft damp cloth.

  • Dry immediately after cleaning.

  • Avoid abrasive cloths and scourers.

  • Avoid placing hot items directly onto surfaces.

  • Avoid contact with harsh chemicals.

Minor scratches and signs of use may develop over time and are considered normal wear.

Quartz, Stone & Marble Surfaces

  • Clean using a soft cloth and mild detergent.

  • Use coasters and placemats.

  • Avoid placing hot cookware directly onto surfaces.

  • Wipe spills immediately, particularly acidic substances such as wine, citrus, vinegar, and coffee.

Natural stone may contain variations in colour, veining, and texture. These are natural characteristics and not defects.

Metal Components

  • Dust regularly.

  • Wipe with a soft damp cloth.

  • Dry thoroughly after cleaning.

  • Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture.

  • Coastal environments may accelerate corrosion and require additional maintenance.

Beds & Headboards

  • Ensure mattress support systems remain properly positioned.

  • Avoid standing or jumping on beds.

  • Check fittings periodically and tighten where necessary.

  • Vacuum upholstered headboards regularly.
